Ground Station and Antenna GS also comes with a controller, which is used to control the UAV during take-off and landing. This controller is very similar to a normal Remote Control Radio Transmitter that a hobby airplane would use. The GS is in an aluminum case about the size of a brief case. It has a 110V power supply inverter inside. The GS Antenna (Yagi) is mounted on a tripod. with a 12 FT fiberglass mast, and is connected to the Ground Station with a 25 FT serial cable. (supplied)
D1-G UAV system, Ground Station, and Antenna. Ground Station & Flight Controller
D-1 UAV systems are programmed, controlled, and monitored via a GS (Ground Station). During a close range flight, D-1 sends telemetry back to the Ground Station. The information sent back includes, airspeed, artificial horizon, compass heading, altitude, and a moving map. The map is a jpeg of the area entered into the GS software. As the aircraft moves, there is an indicator that moves over the jpeg image. The GS software package is provided by Dara Aviation, and can be loaded to any Windows XP computer (laptop computer is preferred). During the pre-flight process, an operator uses the GS software to program a mission. The mission is uploaded into the D-1 autopilot via 900 MHZ modem. This system requires two serial ports, and a PCMCIA serial card adaptor..
